Carrier Sales – Flatbed & Heavy Haul

This position carries significant relationship and negotiation responsibility: building a portfolio of reliable carriers equipped to handle oversize, overweight, and other highly specialized cargo, negotiating rates that protect margin, and covering complex loads with consistency in a high-volume, fast-moving environment.

 

This role is intended for a carrier sales professional with genuine flatbed and specialized equipment expertise, someone who will help build the specialized carrier network necessary for the company’s next phase of growth. Candidates with a demonstrated record of sourcing and managing carriers for project cargo, oversize, or other highly specialized freight, and who are ready to achieve strong earning potential as part of a growing team, are encouraged to apply.

  • Project cargo and specialized freight experience – Candidates know the flatbed, oversize, and specialized equipment market thoroughly and bring a proven track record.
  • Permitting and routing knowledge – Familiarity with oversize and overweight permitting, escort requirements, and route surveys across states and provinces.

What You Will Do:

  • Grow the specialized carrier network – Build and maintain strong relationships with flatbed, RGN, step-deck, and other specialized equipment carrier partners across North America, ensuring exceptional service to meet customer needs.
  • Expand earning potential – Increase volume and capacity over time by growing the specialized carrier network.
  • Support competitive pricing – Collaborate with the sales team to offer competitive pricing on project cargo and oversize moves and contribute to RFQ/RFP bids.
  • Coordinate permits and routing– Partner with carriers to confirm permitting, escorts, and route surveys are in place ahead of pickup.
  • Drive performance – Focus on high-quality service and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop new carrier relationships – Expand the specialized carrier network and service capabilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico during afternoon and night shifts.
  • Manage existing carriers – Nurture relationships with existing specialized carriers, ensuring high levels of service and communication.
  • Refine core skills – Strengthen relationship management and customer service through collaboration with the team and manager.
  • Tailor transportation solutions– Work closely with the sales team to create solutions for oversize and project cargo customers, ensuring the best possible service.
  • Deliver against KPIs – Focus on on-time deliveries, proactive tracking, and outbound calls, with performance measured and rewarded.

Qualifications:

  •    5+ years of freight brokerage experience in project cargo, oversize, or flatbed freight – Required, with a proven track record in the industry.
  • Hands-on knowledge of specialized equipment – Experience sourcing capacity for flatbed, step-deck, RGN, double-drop, and other specialized trailer types.
  • Permitting familiarity – Working knowledge of oversize and overweight permitting requirements, escort coordination, and route surveys.
  • Passion for the freight industry– Drive to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills – Ability to build relationships via phone, email, and video calls.
  • Strong work ethic – Drive and focus to put in the effort required to succeed.
  • Relationship-building skills – Ability to connect with a wide range of people, from truck drivers to senior business leaders.
  • Bachelor’s degree – In Business or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Platform familiarity – Experience with load board and transportation management platforms, including DAT and Trucker Tools, is preferred.
